Satsang is a free program based in the ancient yogic tradition. This is the primary way that sages have offered their teachings for thousands of years, since the time of the Upanishads. The Sanskrit word means “in the company of Truth,” made up of “sat” (Truth) and “sangha” (in the company of).
Swami Nirmalananda continues this age-old tradition by sharing the depth and breadth of yoga’s timeless teachings in this free program.
Her talks are captivating and reach into the inner depths of the listener,
spanning beyond a simple lecture or discussion. She has the ability to
spread the light of yoga to everyone. – Shantadevi White, Tennessee
I remember the first time I looked into Swamiji’s eyes and saw consciousness.
I had to look away. It was like being blinded by the sun. Today I yearn to look
into her eyes and I do it whenever I can. —Melissa Hoffman, Brisbane Australia
2011 Satsangs are currently being arranged, with dates to be announced soon for our Downingtown location. Swamiji is not traveling much this year, so there are no out of town programs being scheduled at this time.
The satsang program is 1-2 hours long, including one or several elements, depending on the time available:
• Teachings – Swamiji explains what a swami is, what yoga says about you and your life, and explains key sutras and
teachings as well as how they apply to modern life. Audio recordings of her chants are posted on our
website for free listening.
• Questions & answers – questions on the teachings or on any subject
• Chant – kirtan, the traditional call-and-response chanting of Sanskrit mantras, which is especially beneficial before
meditation, but more importantly is an experience of pure joy. Click here to hear one of the chants
that Swamiji leads at these events.
• Meditation – Swamiji leads everyone into the inner experience that yoga promises, and includes basic meditation
instructions for new meditators.
