Other Charitable Projects in India

Swami Nirmalananda has been involved in several charitable projects in India, first seeing Muktananda’s work many years ago. In May of 2010, the Ganeshpuri Music School was opened with Svaroopa® Vidya Ashram serving as the founding sponsor and many generous yogis in the Svaroopa® yoga community contributing. After two years of success, supervisor and founder of the school, Shri Prasad Joshi has inspired additional donors and is making plans for expansion. Swami Nirmalananda hopes to have the Ashram help support that expansion.

In December of 2010, Swamiji organized contributions through Svaroopa® Vidya Ashram to build Kerala House, a home for a single mother and her handicapped child. This was made possible through the generous contributions of ashramites and the efforts of the medical staff at Beach and Lake Resort who helped find government money for the daughter’s medical issues. Swamiji has also provided needed supplies for an orphanage in Kerala, supported temples in Ganeshpuri, and is now opening the Kerala Ayurvedic clinic.

Svaroopa Vidya Ashram has teamed with Beach & Lake Resort, a beautiful ocean-side resort where Swamiji has led several group retreats, to open a free Ayurvedic clinic for the villagers in the area.  Located along the ocean in a fishermen's village, the area is ripe for such a service, as the fishermen eke out a meager living in the over-fished and polluted waters.  The allopathic medications strain their financial resources so much that they often have to go without care.

The clinic opened in July 2011 and was named the Muktananda Ayurvedic Clinic. Swami Nirmalananda visited Kerala and opened the clinic personally, providing an important blessing to the clinic - as well as boosting its reputation in the area.  The event was even covered by the local newspaper. You can view photos of the Opening Day here.

Swamiji asks you to consider continuing to support the Muktananda Clinic.  The clinic treats over 80 people weekly, supervising their continuing treatment and return to health over the months that such a rejuvenative process takes.
